Spencer's First Steps

Spencer started walking the other day! He doesn't quite have it down yet, but he's really trying. It's so funny! I forgot how much I get a kick out of those first few weeks of walking. He looks like a little drunk man. He's so proud of himself and you can tell he's very excited about this new skill.

This morning I changed his diaper and left him to "air out" for just a minute and he pooped all over the carpet. One of those explosions ya know? Then he stepped in it and I finally shook myself out of my panic induced paralyzation just in time to stop him from putting his hand in it to play.
Not 2 minutes after I got him rinsed off in the sink, Kaci woke up and I went to get her out of bed. She is soaking we (as is her bed) and her diaper is lodged halfway down the leg of her pj's.

What a glamorous life eh!??

Kaci is dancing around the living room singing songs for Jeremy and me. She just finished Jingle Bells and when she was done she paused and said "That's a great song!"

The other day I was leaving for an evening out and wearing one of those puffy winter vests and Kaci got all excited and asked "Mommy, you're going on a boat?" "I like your life jacket!"

On our way to Costco the other day we passed a yard sale and stopped for a minute. Kaci spotted this crazy hat shaped like a the fish from Nemo, or Little Mermaid or something and fell instantly in love with it. It's the funniest looking thing but she put it on the second she saw it and refused to take it off, so I just coughed up the 50 cents and bought it. We went on to Costco where she proudley wore it in the store. It was so funny. She had this completely serious look on her face and her thumb in her mouth walking around with this ridiculous bright yellow fish hat on her head. People kept busting up laughing when they saw her, but tried not to let her see. She got lots of compliments . . .

Halloween . . . .

Kaci LOVED Halloween again this year. We got all dressed up (Kaci a Kitty Cat and Spencer a Dog) to go to the ward party. She was so excited to go to the "Holloween Party". She had been talking about it all day. When it was finally time to go we started driving to the church. She started getting very concerned when she recognized where we were driving. She started getting mad and said "NO!" I don't wanna go to church!" We kept trying to explain that the party was AT the church, but she was not having it. It was a struggle to get her out of the car saying "NO! I don't wanna go to church, I wanna go to the party!"
I guess that would be a pretty cruel trick to play on a kid . . . tell them we're going to a party, then take them to church instead. Still,it was a little disconcerning to see how pissed off she was at the thought of going to church . . . I guess I'm not one to talk though.

So much for keeping this thing up . . . Ok, so I'm going to try to remember how to put pictures up here now that I've reset my password that I forgot cuz it's been months since I've been logged on.

Journal Entry

Spencer's first tooth is cutting today. I can just barely see and feel the little edge poking out. Poor guy, he's so grumpy. Yesterday we moved Spencer into the crib and Kaci into a twin bed. I don't think anyone got a good night sleep .

We got back from the family reunion in Utah last week, and I'm still recovering from the trip. We had such a great time though. I'm planning on putting some pictures and stories up, but don't quite have the time or energy yet.

Family Journal Entry

Friday at playgroup I cought Kaci climbing across the top beam of one of those big wooden playsets (like you buy at Costco). It was soooo high! Even I was suprised, and she doesn't suprise me much anymore. I had to pursuade her to climb back through the window of the 2nd story of the playset since she was way out of my reach.

That morning I walked in on her with a squirt bottle drenching the laptop. I was so sick about it and sure that it would never recover, but our freind Aaron told him how to dry it out, and it seems as good as new now! Thank GOODNESS!!

She refused to take a nap today. I left her in her room crying for and hour and a half before giving up. When I finally went in there she was a sweaty mess. Her hair was standing on end from rubbing up against the crib tent and her her face was drenched with sweat, snot, and tears. She was sticky and sweaty. The second I picked her up she was catching her breath, you know how they keep kind of sucking up air for a while, and in between her hiccops she hugged me and said "There. That's better." She may be fierce and volitile, but thank goodness she recovers fast!
